Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy was last updated on July 30, 2024.

1. Introduction

Our website, https://www.techcontracts.com, (”our site”) uses cookies and other related technologies. These technologies are also placed by third parties we have engaged.

This Cookie Policy applies to our site but not to the pages linked to our site and hosted by our video and webinar hosting vendor, Teachable. The two sets of pages look similar, to give you a smooth website experience. But you can identify the public-facing Teachable pages because they all have the “Tech Contracts Academy COURSES” logo in the upper left corner. You can also identify public-facing Teachable pages by their urls, which always starts with “courses.techcontracts.com” or “ondemand.techcontracts.com.” (No pages on our site include that special logo or reside at those urls.) Finally, if you enroll in one of our on-demand courses or webinars, you’ll be operating on Teachable pages. You can learn about Teachable’s use of cookies from their cookie policy.

2. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small file that is sent along with pages of a website and stored by your browser on the hard drive of your computer or another device. The information stored in cookies may be returned to our servers or to the servers of the relevant third parties during a later visit.

3. Cookies we use

  • 3.1 Functional cookies Some cookies ensure that certain parts of our site work properly and that your user preferences remain known. By placing functional cookies, we make it easier for you to visit our site. This way, you don’t need to enter the same information over and over.
  • 3.2 Statistics cookies We use statistics cookies to learn about use of our site, including to optimize the experience for our visitors. With these statistics cookies we get insights about use of our site.
  • 3.3 Marketing cookies, a.k.a. Tracking cookies Marketing/Tracking cookies create user profiles to display advertising or to track the user on this website or across several websites for similar marketing purposes.

4. Placed cookies

5. Consent

Using our cookie banner, you can choose whether to accept tracking and statistics-collecting cookies from our site. We use an “opt-in” system, so if you don’t accept, our site will consider those cookies denied. Denial means our system will ask your browser not to accept tracking or statistics-collecting cookies from our site. Our cookie consent banner does not, however, make any changes related to functional cookies.

6. Enabling/disabling and deleting cookies

You should be able to use your internet browser to automatically or manually delete cookies. You should also be able to specify that certain cookies may not be placed. Another option is to change the settings of your internet browser so that you get a message each time a cookie is placed. For more information about these options, please refer to the help section of your browser. Please note that our site may not work properly if all cookies are disabled. Also, if you do delete the cookies in your browser, they may be placed again when you visit our website, though you’ll still have the same options discussed above related to statistics-collecting and marketing/tracking cookies.

7. Anonymous tracking and statistics by Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a service provided by Google, Inc. We use Google Analytics to collect statistics about use of our site, in order to improve it and to market it better. If you don’t accept marketing/tracking or statistics cookies, your browser should provide less data for Google Analytics’ use. But even without cookies, Google Analytics uses the scripts – e.g., JavaScript – included on each of our site’s pages for anonymous tracking and statistics collection. Scripts are not cookies; they’re an alternative technology.

Anonymity from Google Analytics is not perfect. It means:

A. Session-based tracking: JavaScript can still track a user’s behavior within a single session, including page views, time on site, and interactions.

B. IP address collection: Google Analytics collects IP addresses, which can be used to approximate a user’s location.

C. Browser and device information: JavaScript can collect data about a user’s browser, operating system, screen resolution, and other device characteristics.

D. Referrer information: The source of traffic (where the user came from) can still be tracked.

E. Aggregated data: Retained data is aggregated, making it difficult to isolate individual user behavior.

If you don’t want the scripts discussed above, consider additional steps like using VPNs or privacy-focused browsers or disabling JavaScript entirely from your computer (for our site and others).

You can learn about Google’s practices from the Google Analytics website. You should also be able to restrict Google Analytics tracking by downloading the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, though we don’t have good information on how effective that might be.
